SDA Members Join Community Service to Address Water Challenges in Mabere

Bundibugyo, Uganda — In a demonstration of Christian service and compassion, Pr. Paul Mumbere, President of Rwenzori Field, led a team of Seventh-day Adventist Church members from the Mabere Church District in Bundibugyo in a community service project aimed at addressing the challenge of accessing water.

The members came together to dig a long trench designed to help trap and channel water from its source toward the church. The initiative seeks to provide a more accessible water source for the church community while reducing the burden faced by residents who must travel long distances to collect water.

For many women in the community, accessing water is a daily struggle. They often spend long hours walking to valleys and other distant water sources, carrying water back home for cooking and other household needs. This demanding task consumes considerable time and energy and presents a significant challenge to families.

By participating directly in the community service, Pr. Mumbere and the church members demonstrated that the mission of the church extends beyond the pulpit. Through practical acts of service, the church seeks to respond to the needs of the communities in which it serves.

The project at Mabere is a reflection of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s commitment to following Christ’s example of serving others. It also highlights the importance of churches working together with their communities to identify local challenges and develop practical solutions.

As the work continues, the initiative is expected to contribute to improving access to water and easing the burden on women and families in the Mabere community.
